Analysis: Basic will skip the second game on the trot because of a plantar fascia injury and could be given the first break to recover. Simon Sohm, Matteo Dagasso and Simone Panada are the next men up in the midfield.
Will skip Frosinone fixture
Basic hasn't been selected for Sunday's game versus Frosinone due to a strained plantar fascia, Tuttomercatoweb reported.
Analysis: Basic picked up some discomfort in the final practice, as he hadn't been mentioned by the coach in the pre-game presser. He could be replaced by Simon Sohm or Matteo Dagasso. Antoine Hainaut can also play in the role, opening a spot on the wing for Pasquale Mazzocchi or Richie Sagrado.
Productive display versus Lecce
Basic created three scoring chances and had eight crosses (two accurate), two corners and one tackle in Sunday's 2-0 loss to Lecce.
Analysis: Basic was one of the most influential men for his club and led it in two offensive categories, but a few of his quality feeds weren't exploited. He's ahead of Simon Sohm in the pecking order for the time being. He logged two goals, three assists, 30 shots (12 on target) and 48 crosses (18 accurate) in 23 games with Lazio last year.
Moves to Venezia
Basic has agreed to a contract until 2029 with an option with Venezia, leaving Lazio after four seasons.
Analysis: Basic barely tested free agency, as his contract would have expired in a month, and elected to join the Serie A newcomers after scoring twice, providing three assists and adding 30 shots (12 on target), 22 key passes and 48 crosses (18 accurate) in 23 games (all starts) in 2025/2026. He'll likely have a regular role next season as well.
Decent display against Roma
Basic had three crosses (one accurate), three clearances and two key passes and won one tackle in Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Roma.
Analysis: Basic did his part in the midfield despite the rough loss and put together a pretty well-rounded stat line. He has registered at least one cross and one corner in four games on the trot, racking up 10 (four accurate) and nine, respectively, and posting four chances created, four tackles and one assist over that span.
Provides assist
Basic assisted once to go with two crosses (one accurate) and two corners in Monday's 3-3 draw versus Udinese.
Analysis: Basic was able to get an assist in relatively limited service as Lazio salvaged a point on Monday. The midfielder could probably replicate these numbers on limited service against Cremonese, a team which has conceded 51 times in 34 domestic games.
