Option off bench
Szczesny will be on the bench for Saturday's game against Sevilla.
Analysis: Even though Szczesny was expected to start following the news that Joan Garcia (knee) wouldn't be starting against Sevilla, it turns out that the veteran goalkeeper will be on the bench. Dominik Livakovic will get the nod instead.
Likely to start vs. Sevilla
Szczesny is expected to start between the posts Saturday against Sevilla due to the absence of Joan Garcia (knee), according to Sergi Capvedila of SPORT.
Analysis: Although signing Dominik Livakovic could've shifted the hierarchy behind Garcia between the posts, Szczesny still seems the clear No. 2 ahead of Livakovic. The Polish goalkeeper committed a mistake when replacing Garcia in the 7-2 win over Racing Santander, but that won't change Hansi Flick's plans to keep him as the starter this upcoming weekend -- and whenever Garcia isn't available.
