Scores off bench in loss
Hollerbach scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Saturday's 4-3 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.
Analysis: Hollerbach made the most of his late appearance, finishing a throw-in sequence to score the hosts' final goal in stoppage time during the weekend's matchup. He has totaled just 29 minutes of play in league action this season, so the strike offers a timely confidence boost. The forward will look to build on the momentum as he competes for a more prominent role, looking to gain playing time from Phillip Tietz and Sheraldo Becker in the front two for future fixtures.
Back in contention
Hollerbach is back in contention for the squad for Sunday's clash against Hamburger SV after his stint with the U23s, according to coach Urs Fischer. "Bene is back in contention for the squad after his stint with the U23."
Analysis: Hollerbach recently received his first competitive minutes since suffering an Achilles tendon rupture in January, featuring for Mainz's U23 side over the weekend to build match fitness. His return to first team contention now marks a significant milestone in his recovery, and his workload should continue to be managed carefully as he works his way back into regular action.
