Jens Stage

Stage will be sidelined for several months after suffering a serious thigh muscle injury during Werder Bremen's final training session ahead of Sunday's clash against Freiburg, according to the club.

Analysis: Stage was forced to leave Saturday's final training session after experiencing discomfort in his thigh, with subsequent examinations confirming a serious muscle injury. The midfielder is expected to miss several months, with coach Daniel Thioune indicating that Stage is unlikely to return before the end of the calendar year. His extended absence represents a major blow after he scored 10 Bundesliga goals last season, while Ludovit Reis and Chuki should take on increased roles in midfield during his absence.

Doubtful for opener with thigh issue

Stage stopped training early Saturday due to a thigh issue, leaving him questionable for Sunday's season opener against SC Freiburg, according to DeichStube.

Analysis: Stage's involvement on the opening weekend is now in question after he stopped training roughly halfway through Bremen's final session before Sunday's clash with Freiburg. He reacted to discomfort in his thigh and knee area following passing and shooting work, needed treatment on the pitch, and was carried off on a golf cart. Whether it's a minor knock or something more serious hasn't been confirmed, leaving his fitness for the season opener up in the air until the club provides further clarity.
