Released from Germany duty
Gnabry will not travel with Germany for the upcoming Nations League clash against Greece and has left the national team camp early for workload management, according to Sky Sport DE.
Analysis: Gnabry is fully fit and is simply being given additional rest after featuring in each of Germany's first three Nations League matches. The attacker most recently featured in the win over Serbia and even wore the captain's armband during the contest. His early return to Bayern should allow him to recover ahead of the resumption of club action, with Felix Keidel expected to take his place in Germany's 23-man squad against Greece.
Will get minutes against Union Berlin
Gnabry (thigh) did not feature against Elversberg despite being available on the bench but will get minutes in Friday's clash against Union Berlin, according to coach Vincent Kompany. "Serge played very well on the number 10 position last season, but he also played on the wing there. We've been waiting a long time with Serge until he gives the signal that he feels good. I reckon he'll get minutes against Union."
Analysis: Gnabry had been cleared for his first Bundesliga appearance of the season after his thigh issue also kept him out of the Champions League opener against Bodo/Glimt, though the club ultimately held off using him against Elversberg. Manager Kompany's comments now point to his involvement in the upcoming match against Union Berlin as the more likely moment for his season debut off the bench.
