Captain anchors Lille's midfield
Andre has made five appearances for Lille this season, missing the campaign opener due to a yellow-card suspension carried over from last year.
Analysis: Andre remains Lille's captain and primary defensive midfielder under new manager Davide Ancelotti, posting 12 tackles, 10 clearances and three interceptions across his four starts and one substitute outing. He has already picked up one yellow card this season, a continuation of the disciplinary trend that cost him the opener, so suspension risk remains part of his profile. At 36 years old, his role as Lille's defensive anchor appears unchanged heading into the rest of the campaign.
Confusion cleared, not suspended
Andre did not actually receive the red card shown in the 95th minute of Friday's 2-2 draw with PSG, with the confusion stemming from a club staff member being sent off instead, according to the club.
Analysis: Andre had picked up a yellow card in the 52nd minute before being substituted off nine minutes later, appearing safe from any disciplinary issue. He finished last season with two goals and two assists across 27 Ligue 1 appearances, and this clarification means Lille will not be without their veteran captain for the club's next match against Toulouse on Sept. 3.
