He recorded 182 appearances with Villa, notching four goals and 24 assists as a solid two-way defender on the left flank. He was a key part of the defense last season and will likely leave Ian Maatsen to start at left-back. However, he will now have a tough time finding starting time every match with Nuno Mendes in front of him, although PSG does undergo heavy rotation in league play and Mendes regularly deals with injury.
Awful performance leads to loss

Analysis: Digne committed a foul that resulted in the penalty kick from which the opposition opened the scoring in Tuesday's clash. The defender did little to offset the error, with his production basically limited to a couple of ball recoveries before his substitution for Theo Hernandez in the 72nd minute. If there's rotation in the third-place match, it could have been an unfortunate end to the competition for Digne, who had previously done a solid job at left-back.

Analysis: Digne was at left-back for France once again, a third straight start for the defender as France continues their World Cup campaign. He should remain a starter, with Theo Hernandez as their other option at left-back.

Analysis: Digne was busy on the left side of a four-man defense, with the highlights of his performance being a joint team-high count of seven duels won and an output of multiple crosses and tackles during the match. It was his third start in the last three contests since he took over as the preferred strater ahead of Theo Hernandez. Assuming that will remain the case in the quarterfinals, Digne will have the difficult task of stopping an in-form Morocco's Brahim Diaz.

Digne has been part of a rotation with Theo Hernandez, which makes him unreliable for guaranteed playing time, but he holds attacking upside whenever he's on the field, especially with his side dominating against most opposition.

Analysis: Digne got the nod at left-back over Theo Hernandez as manager Didier Deschamps continued to shuffle his back line ahead of the knockout rounds. He logged the full 90 minutes as part of a French defense that pitched a shutout against an Iraq side that generated just 0.6 expected goals throughout the match. Digne also chipped in six crosses and created one chance, while France secured its place in the Round of 32 and now turns its attention to a final group-stage showdown with Norway on June 26.

Struggles in service
