Analysis: Thomas-Asante made his World Cup debut Wednesday when he subbed onto the pitch in the 58th minute for Kamaldeen Sulemana. Ghana's attack was struggling a bit when he came onto the pitch, but Thomas-Asante's pace helped open up the attack. Still scoreless in the 95th minute, Antoine Semenyo released Thomas-Asante down the left with a through ball and then Thomas-Asante whipped a pass across the goal which Caleb Yirenkyi stuck into the back of the net. A deflection on the pass prohibited it from being recorded as an assist, but it was functionally an assist on Ghana's match-winning goal. With by far the easiest group stage match out of the way, Thomas-Asante will likely see more playing time in order to help create scoring opportunities against England and then Croatia.
