Moves up in rotation

Thomas-Asante played 90 minutes in Coventry's 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest following a string of three substitute appearances.

Analysis: Thomas-Asante was in and out of the starting lineup as a winger over the initial stages of the campaign, but he found a greater role in the middle of the front line in the absence of both Taiwo Awoniyi (suspension) and Haji Wright (quadriceps). The Ghanaian international was also called up for AFCON qualifying action. He's not highly reliable given his current lack of decisive contributions, but his tally of five shots (three on target) over the last two league games is a good sign in terms of offensive upside.

Single cross in loss

Thomas-Asante registered one cross (zero accurate) and one clearance in Friday's 3-0 loss to Arsenal.

Analysis: Thomas-Asante had a single cross and did nothing else going forward throughout Friday's loss. That's an awful return for the forward, who just couldn't get anything going against Arsenal. He struggled to even touch the ball throughout the match, failing to really accomplish anything in a total mismatch.

Provides spark off bench

Thomas-Asante generated one shot (zero on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Wednesday's 1-0 victory versus Panama.

Analysis: Thomas-Asante made his World Cup debut Wednesday when he subbed onto the pitch in the 58th minute for Kamaldeen Sulemana. Ghana's attack was struggling a bit when he came onto the pitch, but Thomas-Asante's pace helped open up the attack. Still scoreless in the 95th minute, Antoine Semenyo released Thomas-Asante down the left with a through ball and then Thomas-Asante whipped a pass across the goal which Caleb Yirenkyi stuck into the back of the net. A deflection on the pass prohibited it from being recorded as an assist, but it was functionally an assist on Ghana's match-winning goal. With by far the easiest group stage match out of the way, Thomas-Asante will likely see more playing time in order to help create scoring opportunities against England and then Croatia.
