Given designated rest day
Shaw was absent from Manchester United's team training Wednesday after being given a designated recovery and rest day ahead of Thursday's Champions League clash against Sabah, according to Tyrone Marshall.
Analysis: Shaw's absence from training appears to be part of United's workload management, with the defender having started each of the club's first three Premier League matches. Rotation is expected against Sabah, particularly with the Manchester derby coming Sunday. Noussair Mazraoui or Patrick Dorgu is expected to start at left-back Thursday, which would allow Shaw to rest before the weekend.
Assists in draw
Shaw assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), three crosses (three accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Everton. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 62nd minute.
Analysis: Shaw has been a much maligned part of the United XI early in the campaign, but he got off to a nice start here, he added an assist in the draw. He was shown a late yellow card but for the most part Shaw was a strong contributor throughout the game. The left-back still needs to improve, especially defensively, but he seems to be set for a decent role in the starting XI this season.
