Signs for Rennes until 2029
Thomasson has joined Rennes on a contract until 2029, returning to Brittany after three seasons at Lens, his new club announced.
Analysis: Thomasson arrives as one of the most experienced and respected midfielders in Ligue 1 after captaining Lens to two runner-up finishes behind PSG and lifting the Coupe de France during his time in the Pas-de-Calais, where he built a reputation as one of the league's most complete and relentless box-to-box players. He has logged more than 400 professional appearances across spells with Evian Thonon Gaillard, Nantes, Strasbourg and Lens, winning the Coupe de la Ligue in 2019 during his five-year stint in Alsace before making his Champions League debut with Lens in 2023. Thomasson wrapped up the season as Ligue 1's top passer and will look to make an immediate impact for Rennes under former coach Frank Haise.

Thomasson has completed his Ligue 1 suspension, so he could play again in upcoming fixtures.
Analysis: Thomasson is a key starter and set-piece taker, making his return an excellent news for the team. He was in good form as he generated one goal and two assists across his last five league games before the ban. He could be trusted for both offensive stats and tackling numbers if he's immediately selected over Andrija Bulatovic and Amadou Haidara.

Thomasson is set to be suspended after accumulating five yellow cards in French competitions, the league announced.
Analysis: Thomasson picked up his fifth yellow card in French competitions and is now suspended for the showdown against Nantes on May 8. The Sang et Or midfielder has been an undisputed starter in the midfield alongside Mamadou Sangare this season and with both players suspended against the Canaries, Andrija Bulatovic and Amadou Haidara will likely pair in the midfield for that clash.

Thomasson scored one goal to go with seven shots (four on goal), eight crosses (two accurate) and eight corners in Friday's 3-2 win over Toulouse.
Analysis: Thomasson scored the team's second goal in the match which was his third in the league campaign. The 32-year-old had seven shots and four of them were on target. Thomasson created four chances as well.
