Frank Anguissa
Unused in Venezia clash
Anguissa (thigh) didn't feature in Saturday's 1-0 loss to Venezia.
Analysis: Anguissa was cleared following a thigh injury but stayed on the bench, as Napoli had to make more aggressive subs to try to come back. His return will likely affect Billy Gilmour the most and will allow the coach to give Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay some breathers.
Available against Venezia
Anguissa (thigh) "has ramped up in training and will be an option Saturday," coach Massimiliano Allegri announced.
Analysis: Anguissa will return after sustaining his second muscular problem in short order and will likely be handled carefully at first, also considering that Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay are both available at the moment. He had started in the first three tilts, notching five shots (one on target), two key passes and three tackles (two won).
Will not return midweek
Anguissa (thigh) hasn't been selected for Tuesday's game versus Villarreal.
Analysis: Anguissa will continue to miss time due to a thigh strain and is considered day-to-day going forward. Kevin De Bruyne and Stanisla Lobotka teamed up in the midfield in the last game as a result of a tactical adjustment. Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay, who's working his way back to full fitness, are the other options at the position.
Out for Frosinone clash
Anguissa (thigh) "won't be an option Saturday but shouldn't be out for a long time," coach Massimiliano Allegri relayed.
Analysis: Anguissa hasn't recovered during the break and will be re-evaluated ahead of the Villarreal and Venezia games coming up next week. Billy Gilmour will continue to start in relief, while Scott McTominay (heart) is back available, albeit in limited fashion.
Dealing with standard strain
Anguissa has been diagnosed with a low-grade right adductor longus strain, Napoli announced.
Analysis: Anguissa aggravated his previous injury but not too severely and will miss little time, if at all, thanks to the long break. He'll have about 20 days to recover ahead of the Frosinone game on October 10.
Might need to be assessed again
Anguissa (thigh) recorded three passes and no further stats in a short stint off the bench in Sunday's 1-1 draw versus Fiorentina and "might have gotten hurt again," coach Massimiliano Allegri announced.
Analysis: Anguissa returned from a two-game absence but didn't play a lot and will have to take more tests to verify whether he indeed suffered a new injury. Napoli will play their next game on October 10. Billy Gilmour and Antonio Vergara would continue to replace him if needed.
Selected for Fiorentina tilt
Anguissa (thigh) has been named in Napoli's squad list to face Fiorentina on Sunday.
Analysis: Anguissa will be back after sitting out two matches and could be eased off the bench, having trained fully only on the eve of the game. Billy Gilmour and Antonio Vergara have picked up the slack in relief. He has notched five shots (one on target), two key passes and three tackles (two won) in three displays (all starts).
Absent for Bologna clash
Anguissa (thigh) "won't return Sunday;" coach Massimiliano Allegri announced.
Analysis: Anguissa returned to full training after sitting out the Arsenal tilt, but staff will err on the side of caution and give him more time to make a full recovery. Two of Billy Gilmour, Antonio Vergara and Kevin De Bruyne will partner Stanislav Lobotka in the midfield.
Ruled out for Arsenal clash
Anguissa "won't be available Wednesday because of an adductor issue," coach Massimiliano Allegri announced.
Analysis: Anguissa didn't train on the eve of the match and will be re-evaluated ahead of Sunday's fixture versus Bologna. Two of Kevin De Bruyne, Antonio Vergara and Billy Gilmour will join Stanislav Lobotka in the midfield, since Scott McTominay (heart) is also missing.
