Stuck on bench
Yates has been an unused substitute in each of Nottingham Forest's last four Premier League matches.
Analysis: Yates was left out of the matchday squad entirely for the season opener against Leeds United, with manager Oliver Glasner citing squad numbers rather than injury. He sits behind Nicolas Dominguez, Ibrahim Sangare and Xaver Schlager in the midfield pecking order, leaving him without a clear route into the XI. The captain will likely need injuries or cup rotation to force his way back into contention.
Finds bench role
Yates (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's clash against Liverpool.
Analysis: Yates returned to the matchday squad after coach Oliver Glasner confirmed he was fit and available following absences from both the Carabao Cup tie against Leeds United and the Premier League opener. The midfielder had also missed the final preseason friendly, and while Glasner opted against handing him a starting role immediately, his presence among the substitutes adds a useful depth option in a midfield already featuring Nicolas Dominguez, Ibrahim Sangare and Xaver Schlager.
