Carrying questionable tag
Alzate is questionable for Wednesday's match against Orlando City SC on Wednesday due to an illness.
Analysis: Alzate has played off the bench in each of Atlanta's last five matches, but that streak is about to come to an end if he doesn't recover in time for this midweek contest. As a depth piece in midfield who regularly comes off the bench, however, Alzate shouldn't have a lot of fantasy appeal in most formats.
Available to play Saturday
Alzate (groin) is available for Saturday's game against New York Red Bulls.
Analysis: Alzate had been dealing with a groin injury, but he was also sorting out green card logistics, which kept him away from the group. The midfielder resumed training earlier in the week, so now he's an option to feature going forward. With just seven appearances and four starts in 2026, however, he doesn't carry a ton of fantasy appeal.
Training individually
Alzate (groin) has resumed training individually after missing the last few games due to injury, according to Doug Roberson of Soccer with Doug.
Analysis: Alzate's original adductor injury in April cost him roughly a month before he returned in a rotational role, but he managed only one appearance off the bench before the same issue flared up again. Working individually now represents real improvement, but it does not guarantee he'll be ready for Atlanta United's next game against Philadelphia Union, since individual work is still a step below full team training.
Questionable with adductor issue
Alzate's availability is in doubt for the upcoming clash against Columbus Crew as he deals with an adductor injury, per the MLS player status report.
Analysis: Alzate could be sidelined again after playing no minutes since April 12, having yet to reach a full recovery from a groin problem. The midfielder had previously been in and out of the starting lineup, and his absence hurts the squad in terms of possession and defensive strength. Tristan Muyumba, Cooper Sanchez and Ajani Fortune should continue to get increased opportunities until the injured player is available again.
Available again
Alzate (groin) has been removed from the injury report as he's ready to see action going forward, Atlanta United's managing editor Adam Jasper reports.
Analysis: Alzate could be initially included as a substitute before contending for a starting role following a one-month absence. The midfielder has been involved mostly in defensive duties this season, tallying 11 tackles, four clearances and three interceptions over seven MLS appearances. His presence may eventually take playing time away from Tristan Muyumba, Cooper Sanchez and Matias Galarza.
Not ready yet
Alzate (adductor) remains sidelined for the time being due to his injury, per the team's availability report.
Analysis: Alzate will miss more matches in addition to the two he already sat out with his current issue. The midfielder will continue to work on his rehabilitation and may still take some time to bounce back into a starting spot. Meanwhile, players such as Tristan Muyumba, Cooper Sanchez and Matias Galarza are expected to be involved in midfield.
