Absent due to injury
Gonzalez has been ruled out for the time being after sustaining a lower body issue, per the MLS Player Status Report.
Analysis: Gonzalez has barely played lately, and it's unclear when he got hurt and whether he'll be able to reappear soon. His continued absence is impactful in terms of midfield depth behind Ronaldo Vieira, Eduard Lowen and Beau Leroux.
Available off bench in Galaxy clash
Gonzalez (lower body) is a substitute option for the midweek game versus Los Angeles Galaxy.
Analysis: Gonzalez could finally bounce back after struggling with a blow over the first few weeks of August. The midfielder will serve as a backup asset behind Ian Harkes and Nick Fernandez for now, but he may be more involved while Ronaldo Vieira (lower body) is sidelined.
Picks up blow in rare start
Gonzalez was forced to leave the field during Saturday's game versus Los Angeles Galaxy.
Analysis: Gonzalez appears to be dealing with an issue, becoming a doubt for the Earthquake's future fixtures. The experienced midfielder has been a secondary rotational option this campaign, making 10 appearances (three starts) and failing to produce significant numbers in a defensive midfield role. While it remains to be seen if he'll be sidelined due to the injury, he'll likely return to a backup role with Ronaldo Vieira no longer suspended for upcoming league action.
