Aitor Fernández
Keeps a clean sheet
Fernandez made one save and secured a clean sheet in Sunday's 2-0 victory versus Racing Santander.
Analysis: There wasn't much to stop for Fernandez, who only had to make one save in this win. The goalkeeper is going to face much more pressure up next against Sevilla, a team that has scored 14 times in LaLiga play so far this season.
Allows five against Betis
Fernandez recorded three saves and allowed five goals in Sunday's 5-2 loss versus Betis.
Analysis: Fernandez was in for a rough outing Sunday, as the keeper would make fewer saves than goals allowed, allowing five goals past him while stopping three shots. This is a third straight game without a clean sheet since getting the starting role, allowing 10 goals in those three starts. It has been a rough start for the keeper, although he could turn it around next match when facing Racing Santander on Oct. 18.
Concedes once in draw
Fernandez recorded one save and allowed one goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano.
Analysis: Fernandez has started in Osasuna's last two league matches, but his numbers haven't been eye-popping -- he has eight saves while conceding five times. Still, this was a step in the right direction after he allowed four goals in a 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Sept. 16. His interventions were key to helping Osasuna end a three-match losing streak.
Seven saves in first start
Fernandez registered seven saves and allowed four goals in Wednesday's 4-0 loss versus Atletico Madrid.
Analysis: Aitor made his first league start of the season at the Metropolitano and came away with plenty of credit despite the four goals his side conceded. The goalkeeper produced seven saves and kept Osasuna's punishment from growing heavier, and his reflexes, positioning and willingness to compete made him the most dependable performer in an otherwise subdued side. The chance arrived through rotation with a demanding run of fixtures to navigate, and while Sergio Herrera has been the established number one, a display of that sort could nudge Aitor slightly ahead in the thinking for the visit of Rayo Vallecano.
Concedes twice in defeat
Fernandez registered two saves and allowed two goals in Tuesday's 2-1 loss versus Atletico Madrid.
Analysis: Fernandez repelled two of four Atletico Madrid shots on goal Tuesday as Osasuna suffered a 2-1 home defeat. The appearance marked the veteran shot stopper's second La Liga appearance (first start) of the campaign, serving in the stead of suspended Sergio Herrera. With Herrera once again available, Fernandez looks unlikely to feature Sunday when Osasuna hosts Espanyol.
First appearance of campaign
Fernandez recorded seven saves and allowed one goal in Friday's 3-2 loss against Levante.
Analysis: Fernandez was forced into action Friday after Sergio Herrera was sent off with a straight red card just before the conclusion of the first half. In his abbreviated appearance, the veteran backup managed seven saves and conceded one goal. With Herrera serving a one-match ban, expect Fernandez between the sticks Tuesday when Osasuna hosts Atletico Madrid.
