Emerging as regular starter
Llorente has started in Atletico Madrid's last six matches across all competitions in the 2026/27 season.
Analysis: Llorente came off the bench in Atletico's first two matches of the 2026/27 season, but he's started in the last six -- five league appearances and the UCL opener against Liverpool. He seems to have a tight grip on the starting RB role, but he's also made two starts in central midfield, so his versatility is very valuable for manager Diego Pablo Simeone. Llorente should remain the first-choice right-back since Marc Pubill, who can play that role as well, has been operating as a center-back most of the time.
Opens scoring in loss
Llorente scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Liverpool.
Analysis: Llorente continued to score for fun at Anfield, opening the scoring during Wednesday's loss. The midfielder has always had an eye for goal in Merseyside and he was on fire yet again to start this clash. After the goal he actually failed to do much else, as he didn't put up a single shot in the rest of the match.
