Analysis: Cheberko was LAFC's busiest defensive presence, winning three of his four tackles while adding eight clearances and three interceptions to help keep Vancouver's threat out wide in check. His strong outing was ultimately overshadowed in the 76th minute when he was whistled for a foul inside the box, allowing Thomas Muller to convert the ensuing penalty for the decisive goal that denied LAFC all three points. Cheberko has now started three straight MLS matches, with his defensive production continuing to rank among the best of any wing-back in the Western Conference.
First decent shift with new club

Analysis: Cheberko anchored LAFC's defensive left side throughout Friday's 3-0 El Trafico win, winning four of his six duels, making four clearances and winning three of his four tackles to limit Galaxy's best wide outlet Joseph Paintsil to just one shot on target across 90 minutes. He also contributed positively in transition, linking with Son Heung-Min on multiple occasions to help LAFC generate their threatening counter-attacks in the second half. Cheberko looks now set to have a regular role in the black and gold back line after joining during the current window.
Joins LAFC
Cheberko was acquired by LAFC from Columbus Crew in exchange for a 2026 international roster slot, the club announced.
Analysis: Cheberko joins as a defensive reinforcement, bringing experience from one of MLS's top clubs in Columbus as LAFC look to strengthen their backline options for the remainder of the season. The Ukrainian center-back managed just three appearances and 83 minutes with Columbus this season after playing 32 matches in the previous campaign, making the move an opportunity to reignite his career and secure regular playing time in a new environment.
