Eyeing November return

Araujo (thigh) is expected to return at some point in November as he continues his recovery from surgery, according to coach Marco Rose, per Sky Sports News. "The last one will be Julian. He needs a little longer, but the plan is to get him back in November as well."

Analysis: Araujo has been sidelined since suffering a left thigh muscle injury during Bournemouth's preseason tour in Austria that required surgery. The defender is expected to be the last of the club's current long-term absentees to return, with manager Marco Rose indicating that his rehabilitation will extend further into November than Junior Kroupi's. Araujo will still need time to rebuild his fitness after a lengthy layoff before pushing for meaningful minutes, and his return should primarily add competition and depth on the right side of Bournemouth's defense.

Undergoes successful thigh surgery

Araujo has undergone successful surgery on his left thigh after sustaining a muscle injury during Bournemouth's preseason tour in Austria, according to the club.

Analysis: Araujo had only recently reported for preseason after completing his loan spell at Celtic, appearing to have moved past the quadriceps injury that had already cost him a place in Mexico's World Cup squad. This new setback now sets his recovery back further, and his path to competing for minutes will be delayed as he works through this latest rehabilitation process ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season.

Returns for preseason

Araujo (quadriceps) has reported to Bournemouth for preseason ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, the club posted.

Analysis: Araujo is back with Bournemouth after completing his loan spell at Celtic and appears to have moved past the muscular injury that sidelined him late last season and ultimately cost him a place in Mexico's World Cup squad. The defender has joined Bournemouth's preseason preparations as he looks to impress ahead of the new campaign. While his role remains uncertain, Araujo will aim to compete for minutes after showing promising form in Scotland before his injury setback.

Retained by Bournemouth

Araujo's (quadriceps) loan period at Scottish side Celtic has come to an end, and he's back with Bournemouth ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Analysis: Araujo had gained some momentum in Scotland, scoring one goal in February and delivering some solid performances before missing the final weeks of the campaign through a muscular issue, which also left him out of Mexico's World Cup squad. However, if he stays with his parent club after the transfer window, the defender would initially be limited to a depth role behind elements such as Adam Smith and Alex Jimenez.

Clears suspension

Araujo is no longer suspended and is an option moving forward for the club.

Analysis: Araujo has cleared his ban due the pair of yellow cards he received in the Carabao Cup clash with Brentford. The defender is now available for his club and set to return in their next contest. That said, with the new additions in the backline of the Cherries, it remains to be seen if Araujo will get back to a starting role.

Sent off in season debut

Araujo was sent off during the second half of Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash with Brentford.

Analysis: Araujo made his 2025/26 season debut in Tuesday's Cup clash, and was shown a pair of yellow cards and sent off in the second half. It was a performance to forget on the whole for the defender. He will now be suspended for Saturday's trip to Tottenham, meaning he will delay his Premier League season debut for at least another week.
