Analysis: Chara has returned to the match squad after being sidelined since Aug. 20 and has a chance to reappear in the holding midfield rotation alongside Cole Bassett and Jose Caicedo. This is good news for the Timbers' depth, although the veteran lacks significant upside, with his value usually coming from accurate passes and a few ball recovery actions.
Unlikely against Austin

Analysis: Chara had been in and out of the starting lineup before being sidelined with this physical issue, and it remains to be seen when he'll be ready for action. The veteran serves mostly as a defensive presence in midfield, a role that may be directly covered by Jose Caicedo in his absence. Prior to the problem, Chara had tallied 511 passes, 33 tackles (12 won) and 15 clearances over 910 minutes of league play this year.
