Munteanu now has eight goal contributions through 20 appearances this season and has created one chance in each of his last four matches. He'll look to keep his good form going Saturday versus Atlanta United.

Four shots Saturday

Munteanu registered four shots (one on goal), three crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Los Angeles Football Club.

Analysis: Munteanu registered four shots including one on goal and three crosses of which one was accurate across 90 minutes as DC United's central attacking threat. He was consistently denied by Hugo Lloris, who made four saves, with his willingness to shoot from distance giving DC United their most dangerous spells of the evening. Munteanu now has six MLS goals this season and remains DC United's primary offensive weapon despite the team's difficult overall campaign.

Scores in loss

Munteanu scored a goal off four shots (one on target), created one chance and drew two fouls during Saturday's 3-1 loss against Charlotte.

Analysis: Munteanu bounced back after two so-so games and, after not being able to find the target during the first half, he used a neat finish into the far post to open the scoring for D.C. United in the 55th minute. This puts to an end a six-game scoreless streak but the forward will have to do it much more consistently to raise his fantasy stock. When he plays, he usually takes a lot of shots so its just a matter of converting those chances at a higher rate.

Wild scorpion assist on equalizer

Munteanu took five shots (three on goal), sent in five crosses (one accurate), created three chances, and suffered two fouls in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Nashville SC.

Analysis: Munteanu delivered the possible assist of the year, flicking a scorpion assist from the ground to an onrushing Tai Baribo for the equalizer. He was one of the most active attackers on the evening, rattling off five shots and creating three chances. He'll look to keep it rolling when D.C. are back in action at CF Montreal on Saturday, August 15.

Five shot in draw

Munteanu had five shots (zero on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus St. Louis City SC.

Analysis: Munteanu thought he had snatched a stoppage-time winner, but his finish was wiped out by VAR for an offside on Lucas Bartlett's header in the buildup, denying D.C. United a dramatic late breakthrough. He logged five shots across 90 minutes alongside Tai Baribo up front, but none were on target as St. Louis held firm in a compact defensive shape that limited the hosts to just five shots on goal. Munteanu now sits on four MLS goals this season through 10 appearances (five starts).

Goal in three straight

Munteanu took two shots and scored a goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Nashville SC. He also drew two fouls and committed two fouls.

Analysis: After failing to score or assist in his first five appearances, Munteanu is scorching hot with four goals across his last three outings. He'll look to carry that momentum into Wednesday's juicy home clash with the Chicago Fire.

Spot start and goal

Munteanu scored one goal to go with five shots (three on goal) and three chances created in Saturday's 3-2 win versus Orlando City SC. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 75th minute.

Analysis: Tai Baribo (thigh) out Saturday meant D.C. United needed someone else to pair up with Jackson Hopkins up top, and the team selected Munteanu. Its decision ultimately paid off, with the last of his three on-target shots deflecting off defender Luis Otavio and past goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau for a goal. At least until Baribo is healthy, with his return date unknown, Munteanu looks like Hopkins' striker partner moving forward.

Starts versus Orlando

Munteanu (thigh) is in the starting XI for Saturday's meeting with Orlando City.

Analysis: Munteanu is ready to play following a two-game absence, gaining increased value as he makes his first start of the season in Tai Baribo's (thigh) place. Over his previous five appearances off the bench, Munteanu tallied seven shots (zero on goal) and six crosses (one accurate) across 120 minutes of play.
