Creative threat from left flank
Gallardo had one shot (zero on goal), 13 crosses (three accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 3-2 loss to England.
Analysis: Gallardo enjoyed plenty of chances to push forward against an opposition that was reduced to 10 men early in the second half Sunday. The 13 crosses were the second-highest figure on the squad and raised his 2026 World Cup total to 16. He was originally expected to play a more offensive role in all games, so it was rather disappointing that he failed to score or assist throughout the international event. Still, he retained an edge over Mateo Chavez and strengthened his status a regular member of a back line that secured four clean sheets in five games.
Quiet performance in win
Gallardo registered one cross (zero accurate) and four clearances in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Ecuador.
Analysis: Gallardo had few opportunities to impress offensively as he faced a tough matchup against John Yeboah on the flank during Tuesday's game. The defender did add to his total of 12 clearances across 282 minutes of play in the 2026 World Cup. He has also recorded 90 minutes in each of the three matches he has played from kickoff, with Mexico keeping a clean sheet in each of those contests. He'll look to remain active at left-back in the upcoming round of 16.
