Five saves in loss
Scherpen made five saves and allowed two goals in Friday's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Analysis: Scherpen made five saves during Friday's clash, but it didn't matter after he allowed two goals in the opening 10 minutes. The goalkeeper was solid after Alexander Isak beat him twice in quick succession. Against a team like Liverpool, those two early goals were insurmountable and put the match in a tough spot. Scherpen will have a better chance in some more manageable matches.
Made six saves in 5-2 defeat
Scherpen registered six saves and allowed five goals in Sunday's 5-2 defeat against Manchester United.
Analysis: Scherpen got his first experience of a big Premier League away day as Ipswich travelled to Old Trafford. The keeper made two of his six saves as Ipswich went into the break at 1-1. After a busier start to the second half the keeper was unfortunate to concede the next two goals as a deflection off Jacobs Greaves and then a penalty put the game seemingly out of reach.
Two saves in win
Scherpen had two saves and allowed one goal in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sunderland.
Analysis: Scherpen stopped two of the three shots he faced during Saturday's match, and that was enough to earn the win. The goalkeeper didn't have too much to do as the team in front of him was excellent, but that proved to be enough for Ipswich to take a hugely important three points. Scherpen is going to be heavily tested every time he's in net this season.
Signs four year deal with Ipswich
Scherpen signed a four year contract with Ipswich Town through 2030, joining from Royale Union Saint Gilloise, becoming the club's sixth signing of the summer, according to the club.
Analysis: Scherpen made 43 appearances in all competitions for Union Saint Gilloise last season, helping the club win the Belgian Cup, after two seasons at Sturm Graz in which he won back to back Austrian Bundesliga titles and made his first Champions League group stage appearances. The 26 year old Dutch goalkeeper came through Ajax's academy before a spell at Brighton and has been capped up to U21 level for the Netherlands, along with a senior call up in 2022, and now begins the next stage of his career in the Premier League.
