Creates insurance goal off bench
Shaffelburg assisted once to go with one shot (one on goal) and one chance created in Wednesday's 3-1 win against Austin FC.
Analysis: Shaffelburg supplied one assist, one shot on target and one chance created during 27 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Austin FC. After Denis Bouanga flicked a header into his path on the left, Shaffelburg curled an early cross between two defenders for Son Heung-Min to finish in the 72nd minute. The assist was his fourth of the season, establishing a new regular-season career high.
Returns after international scoring display
Shaffelburg has completed his international duty with Canada and is available for LAFC's MLS clash against Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday after being omitted from the league's latest injury report.
Analysis: Shaffelburg missed the matchup against FC Dallas while representing Canada during the international break, during which he scored twice in a 2-0 win over Peru. The winger also impressed against Chile in a previous friendly, potentially giving him a confidence boost ahead of the final stretch of the MLS season. He has recorded three assists across 16 league appearances (eight starts) for LAFC this season but has yet to find the back of the net. Shaffelburg should be back in contention for minutes on the wing against Vancouver, although a starting role is far from guaranteed given his rotational usage.
