Hoping to end season strong
Baumgartl has started and gone a full 90 in every game this season, compiling one goal and three clean sheets across his 26 starts.
Analysis: St. Louis City are likely headed to the playoffs, but the defense hasn't really been the reason with just three clean sheets, none in the last nine games. As a center-back who doesn't get forward often on set pieces (four shots total) or accrue clean sheets, most of his value is attached to tackles, interceptions and clearances.
Misses training due to illness
Baumgartl missed Tuesday's training session because of illness, according to Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Analysis: Baumgartl played every minute of five games in a 15-day span between MLS and the US Open Cup, and the illness could very well be fatigue-related. However, the center-back is expected to be in the XI if deemed healthy for Saturday's game against the New York Red Bulls. Baumgartl has a career-high 106 clearances in 26 starts for St. Louis City SC this campaign.
Plays full game
Baumgartl generated one cross (zero accurate) and two tackles in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus Real Salt Lake.
Analysis: Baumgartl rotated the ball well, completing 78 passes as St. Louis maintained majority of the possession. He recorded three clearances, two tackles and an interception. He also won all six duels he contested.
