Reports back to Manchester
Anderson has reported back to Manchester to prepare for the new 2026/27 Premier League season, according to City Xtra.
Analysis: Anderson posted four goals and four assists across 38 league appearances for Nottingham Forest last season before his summer move to City became the most expensive British transfer ever, and delivered an impressive display in midfield at the World Cup, contributing 21 tackles, 16 clearances and interceptions during the competition. His return to club training now shifts focus to preseason preparations as he begins integrating into new manager Enzo Maresca's midfield ahead of his first season at the Etihad.
Busy defensively
Anderson generated three tackles (two won), four clearances and one interception in Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Argentina. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 37th minute.
Analysis: Anderson had everything to do throughout the midfield during Wednesday's loss. He was astounding, he was shutting down Argentine attacks everywhere and causing issues for their midfield, offering no space. It was an incredibly impressive performance, though it didn't fill the stat sheet as most of what Anderson did we impressive ball recovery and duels in the midfield.
