Released from France squad
Upamecano is suspended for France's match against Belgium and has been released back to his club, leaving Clairefontaine Saturday morning, according to the French National Team.
Analysis: Upamecano has been a fixture at center back for Bayern Munich, starting all four Bundesliga matches this season and recording one goal, eight tackles, six interceptions and 16 clearances. He is the main defensive leader for France and new coach Zinedine Zidane didn't change his role during this international window. Upamecano is now back available for his club earlier than expected and will continue to see heavy minutes alongside Jonathan Tah in central defense at club level as long as he stays healthy.
Locked into starting XI
Upamecano has started all four of Bayern Munich's Bundesliga matches this season.
Analysis: Upamecano has remained a fixture at center-back, recording one goal, eight tackles, six interceptions and 16 clearances across four Bundesliga appearances. His ever-present starting role underlines his place among Bayern's preferred defensive options alongside Jonathan Tah. Upamecano should continue to see heavy minutes at the heart of the defense as long as he remains healthy.
