Extends deal through 2029
Gray has signed a contract extension with New York City FC through 2028-29, with a club option for 2029-30, the club announced.
Analysis: Gray has made 175 appearances across all competitions since debuting as a Homegrown product in 2019, contributing three goals and 15 assists. He has made at least 20 starts in each of the last five MLS seasons and established himself as one of the league's most reliable right-backs while helping the club win the 2021 MLS Cup and 2022 Campeones Cup. He reached Century Club status in 2024 and holds the record for the most appearances by a Homegrown player in club history. The new contract is a recognition of his consistency and long-standing importance to the club.
Clears suspension
Gray has served his one match suspension and will be an option to the clash with Columbus on Sunday.
Analysis: Gray has recorded a start in all 10 appearances at right back for NYCFC, already recorded a goal and an assist on the season, a better outing after failing to find the scoresheet in 2025. He is also averaging about 2.1 crosses and 2.2 clearances a contest.
Sent off Saturday
Gray was shown a red card in the second half of Saturday's 1-0 loss to Montreal.
Analysis: Gray left his side with 10 men after earning a couple of yellow cards in a few minutes during the defeat. He's now banned for next Sunday's meeting with D.C. United and could bounce back versus Columbus Crew on May 10. The full-back has been heavily involved throughout the campaign, so this event forces the squad to a change in its usual lineup, perhaps deploying Raul Gustavo in his place.
