Joins San Jose Earthquakes

Lowen is heading to San Jose Earthquakes after transferring from St. Louis City, signing a contract with his new team through the 2027/28 season.

Analysis: Lowen will boost San Jose's midfield quality and should immediately compete for a starting role either in a pivotal zone or in a more attacking No. 10 or winger role. He stood out as one of the most decisive contributors for his previous team, producing 20 goals and 16 assists over 86 MLS appearances, including five of those direct contributions in 13 games played during the 2026 campaign. Additionally, he has scored once and assisted twice across six Leagues Cup performances, and he represented Germany at the 2021 Olympic Games, where he recorded one goal in three matches. He'll now challenge Nick Fernandez, Beau Leroux, Ian Harkes and Niko Tsakiris for starts while aiming to take a share of set pieces from both Tsakiris and Timo Werner.

Goal from penalty spot

Lowen scored one goal to go with five shots (one on goal), six crosses (one accurate) and three corners in Thursday's 3-2 win over Sporting Kansas City.

Analysis: Lowen was the hero for St. Louis as they pulled out the late win Thursday, as he would step up to the penalty spot in the 86th minute and score the game-winning goal. This is his first goal in some time, as his last was April 19 against the Sounders. He is now up to two goals and one assist in eight appearances (four starts) this season.

Provides assist in win

Lowen assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one corner in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Los Angeles Football Club.

Analysis: Lowen was St. Louis' steadiest presence in midfield during Wednesday's 2-1 home win over LAFC, logging one tackle and one interception while chipping in a season-high four clearances. He also set up Tomas Totland's opener on a quick-hitting counterattack, showing great vision in transition. Lowen now has one goal and one assist with five chances created across five MLS appearances (two starts) this season, and after a slow start to the campaign, he's clearly finding his groove again for St. Louis City.
