One shot in return
Ayala had one shot (zero on goal) in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Columbus Crew.
Analysis: Ayala returned to the pitch on Saturday after missing two matches with an injury, continuing what has been a difficult season marked by setbacks. He's appeared only seven times in league play and earned just three starts, far from the impact he hoped to make in his first campaign since moving from Portland.
Picks up adductor strain
Ayala has been ruled out for Wednesday's match against Chicago Fire because of a left adductor strain, the league announced Tuesday.
Analysis: Ayala is a midfielder who has been part of Inter Miami's squad, and his left adductor strain is one of several injury absences hitting the club's roster on this matchday. Adductor strains are managed carefully given the recurring nature of such injuries, particularly for players who rely on explosive directional changes. Thus, the club will take the appropriate time to ensure full recovery before returning him. Given that Rodrigo De Paul (not injury related) is also ineligible, there should now be more opportunities for players like David Ruiz and Yannick Bright in Miami's midfield.
