Available to face Union Berlin
Breithaupt (toe) is available for Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Union Berlin after recovering from his injury, according to coach Manuel Baum. "Mounie and Banks are still sidelined. Claude-Maurice has partially rejoined training. Everyone else is fit to play."
Analysis: Breithaupt is back in contention after missing Augsburg's previous Bundesliga clash against Elversberg due to a toe injury. The defensive midfielder has been cleared for selection, although his limited involvement this season leaves his role against Union Berlin uncertain. Having made just 18 Bundesliga appearances for Augsburg since joining in 2023, Breithaupt faces considerable competition for playing time in midfield. His return nevertheless provides Augsburg with additional depth ahead of Saturday's fixture.
Ruled out against Elversberg
Breithaupt (toe) is not in the squad for Saturday's match against Elversberg.
Analysis: Breithaupt is not ready to return from his toe injury despite being omitted from Augsburg's latest injury report. The defensive midfielder remains sidelined, with no confirmed timetable for his return to competitive action. He rejoined Augsburg after Fortuna Dusseldorf declined its purchase option following a loan spell that yielded one assist across 15 second-division appearances. Having made just 18 Bundesliga appearances for Augsburg since joining in 2023, he will still face considerable competition for minutes once fit.
