Impressing in training

Emegha (hamstring) has been scoring goals in training over the past four days and appears to be fit, the club posted.

Analysis: Emegha appears to be in strong form as Chelsea continue their preseason preparations. His finishing in training sessions is an encouraging sign ahead of the club's buildup to the new campaign, particularly with no fitness concerns evident at this stage. The forward will look to carry that form into preseason friendlies and translate it into matchday chances. Emegha is expected to push for playing time as Chelsea finalize their squad ahead of the Premier League opener against Fulham on Aug. 24.

Officially joins Chelsea

Emegha is officially a Chelsea player, joining from Strasbourg after an agreement was reached between the two sister clubs last September, with the Dutch striker now set to work under new coach Xabi Alonso.

Analysis: Emegha ended the season having scored four goals and provided two assists across his final 10 Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg, capping a two-season stint in which he scored 18 goals and provided five assists across 37 Ligue 1 appearances to establish himself as one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe. The 23-year-old captained Strasbourg this season and earned his first senior Netherlands call-up in November 2025, heading to Stamford Bridge as one of the most anticipated arrivals of the summer transfer window.

Done for league season

Emegha (hamstring) is out for the rest of the league season and may only return for a Conference League final, according to manager Gary O'Neil, per Jonathan Helbling of Alsa Sports. "Ema is unavailable for the game. He suffers from a hamstring injury, not too serious, but I don't know how long it will take. In the league season, we will clearly not see him again, I think. If we make a very big performance and we go to the finalm then we can re-evaluate the situation. But for me, we won't see him in the league this season."

Analysis: Emegha will hit the sidelines after he suffered an apparent injury in their last outing, with the forward picking up a hamstring injury that will be too much to play through. Unfortunately, this will knock him out for the final three games of the league season, ending his campaign with four goals and two assists in 10 appearances (four starts). After a season full of injuries, this is a tough way for his season to potentially end, only now an option if they make the Conference League finals.

Picks up hamstring issue

Emegha appeared to pick up a hamstring issue in the closing stages of Sunday's 2-1 defeat against Toulouse and is a serious doubt for Thursday's Conference League semifinal second leg against Rayo Vallecano, according to coach Gary O'Neil, per Alsasport. "If you feel something in your hamstring on a Sunday, then Thursday is difficult. We'll see. We'll see what happens. It is important to know that we can win with Ema and we can win without Ema on Thursday."

Analysis: Emegha's potential absence would be a real blow for Strasbourg heading into one of the most important nights in the club's recent history, with the attacker having been one of their most dangerous weapons throughout the Conference League run. The club is awaiting further medical examination before providing any clarity on the severity of the issue, leaving his status for Thursday genuinely uncertain with the tight four-day turnaround making any hamstring complaint particularly concerning.
