Undergoes successful surgery

Mosquera underwent successful surgery on his left ankle and knee, the club announced Wednesday. He will miss the rest of the 2026 MLS season.

Analysis: The ankle procedure was an insertional achilles tendon debridement, and the knee procedure was a proximal patellar tendon debridement, per the team's press release. As a result, Mosquera not only wil miss the rest of the season, but he would be looking at a return to play around April or May next year, with a recovery timeline estimated around eight to 10 months. The full-back finishes the 2026 MLS season with just three appearances (one start) and 68 minutes of playing time.

Out again

Mosquera is out for the time being due to a foot injury, per the MLS Player Status Report.

Analysis: Mosquera had been dealing with a knee injury earlier in the season and has now returned to the report post-break with a foot issue, which either indicates a new problem picked up in pre-return training or a reclassification of an existing concern. He has primarily served on the sidelines this season due to injury in a tough start to the campaign, although it won't force much change for Portland.

Option again for Timbers

Mosquera (knee) was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 2-2 draw against Montreal, confirming his return to the matchday squad after missing 10 of Portland's first 11 MLS matches this season with various injuries.

Analysis: Mosquera's inclusion in the squad is a clean bill of health heading into upcoming fixtures, with his return giving coach Phil Neville more defensive options to call upon. The defender made his lone appearance at right-back earlier in the season and could push to challenge Brandon Bye for that role once he gets back up to full match sharpness through further appearances off the bench.

Expected back for SKC match

Mosquera (knee) is likely to miss one more week before returning for the May 9 clash against Sporting Kansas City, according to coach Phil Neville, Jeremy Peterman of Cascadia FC reports.

Analysis: Mosquera has missed nine of 10 MLS games this season due to different injuries, but he's getting closer to a full return. The defender made his lone appearance as a right-back, so he could be used in Brandon Bye's place once he's ready to start. In that case, Mosquera will be reliable for crosses and a few defensive stats.

Still 1-2 weeks away

Mosquera (knee) remains sidelined with no involvement in training sessions as he's expected to miss a couple more weeks of action, Adam Susman of The Timber Review reports.

Analysis: Mosquera looks set to remain inactive for a few more games, having already missed seven of the first eight MLS games in the 2026 season. This issue limits the squad's right-back options, with Brandon Bye likely to get more starts in the short term.
