Sangare is a new addition to Brentford's roster after departing Ligue 1 side Lens for the 2026/27 campaign, his new club announced Saturday.
Analysis: Sangare will boost the Bees' central midfield ability after a consistent season in France, where he stood out as an all-around contributor, scoring three goals and four assists while averaging 1.8 shots, 1.3 chances created, 7.1 balls recovered and 3.0 tackles per game in league play. He's also a Mali international since 2024 and has previous experience in various Austrian clubs. He'll challenge Vitaly Janelt and Yehor Yarmolyuk for starts in the next Premier League campaign.
Back from suspension
Sangare is available for selection after serving his league suspension in Friday's win over Nantes.
Analysis: Sangare will look to regain a central midfield spot following his ban, in which case Amadou Haidara and Andrija Bulatovic will be at risk of dropping to bench roles. The usual starter should be a source of all-around production, looking to improve on his totals of two goals and two assists from the last eight games, a period in which he also averaged 49.5 passes, 1.9 tackles and 1.8 interceptions per contest.
Suspended one game
Sangare is set to be suspended after accumulating five yellow cards in French competitions, the league announced.
Analysis: Sangare picked up his fifth yellow card in French competitions and is now suspended for the showdown against Nantes on May 8. The Sang et Or midfielder has been an undisputed starter in the midfield alongside Adrien Thomasson this season and with both players suspended against the Canaries, Andrija Bulatovic and Amadou Haidara will likely pair in the midfield for that clash.
