Suffers muscular problem Wednesday

Pirani exited Wednesday's matchup against San Jose Earthquakes with an apparent muscle issue.

Analysis: Pirani left the field shortly before halftime during his sixth straight league start, and he's now a doubt for immediate action as he likely deals with muscular discomfort. If he's in fact unable to play, there will be a forced change in San Diego's starting XI, with either Alejandro Alvarado taking his spot or Onni Valakari moving back to midfield and a natural striker complementing the offense.

Scores again Saturday

Pirani scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Saturday's 3-0 victory versus Colorado Rapids.

Analysis: Pirani scored in his second straight outing Saturday, this time on a strike in the 71st minute assisted by Marcus Ingvartsen. It took him seven shots to score Thursday versus Portland, but he only needed one to bag his second goal of the season versus Colorado. He was subbed off in the 93rd minute for Alejandro Alvarado.

Traded to San Diego FC

Pirani has been traded from DC United to San Diego FC on Thursday.

Analysis: Pirani was traded to San Diego in exchange for $350,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2026 and up to an additional $650,000 in GAM if certain performance-based incentives are met. The midfielder hasn't played for DC United since mid-April, but he should have more chances to play regularly in San Diego, offering depth in the middle of the park.
