Rejoins starting lineup Wednesday

Orozco (illness) is part of St. Louis' initial lineup to face Portland Timbers on Wednesday.

Analysis: Orozco has regained full health following his one-game absence due to a minor ailment. The defender's comeback completes a back three alongside Timo Baumgartl and Dante Polvara, limiting Lukas MacNaughton's participation in upcoming matches. Although St. Louis are in good form, they haven't secured a clean sheet in the last six games, so most of Orozco's value will come from defensive contributions.

Recovering from illness

Orozco is questionable for upcoming action due to an ailment, according to the MLS.

Analysis: Orozco is a young player developing at St. Louis, and his illness is a real concern after he featured in each of the last two league games. Illness designations can resolve quickly, but his status will depend on how he responds in the day before kickoff. Another player such as Lukas MacNaughton will be ready to cover alongside Dante Polvara and Timo Baumgartl in the back three if the Mexican can't go.

Signs new deal with St. Louis

Orozco signed a new contract with St. Louis CITY SC through the 2028-29 season, with a club option for 2029-30, the club announced.

Analysis: Orozco has started nine of St. Louis' 10 MLS matches this season, ranking first on the team in interceptions per 90 minutes and second in passing percentage. He joined the organization through CITY2 at the start of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season before earning a first team deal that summer, scoring his first MLS goal in a 3-1 win over Nashville. The defender began his professional career with Real Monarchs before signing a Homegrown deal with Real Salt Lake and making his MLS debut in March 2022, and has amassed more than 130 professional appearances across MLS, the USL Championship, Liga MX and the Northern Ireland Football League. Orozco is expected to remain a regular fixture in St. Louis' backline as the club continues its push for a playoff spot.

Option after break

Orozco (hamstring) is on the bench for Thursday's match against Kansas City.

Analysis: Orozco was dealing with a hamstring injury ahead of the World Cup, but is no longer injured, using the time off to recover. This is major news for the club, as he is a regular starter, likely starting him on the bench Thursday as he builds up fitness. He started in all but one of his appearances on the team sheet thus far, likely to start again soon.

Put with hamstring injury

Orozco is out for the time being with a hamstring injury, per the MLS Player Status Report.

Analysis: Orozco has been absent for consecutive matchdays with this hamstring injury after previously clearing a concussion protocol, making it a difficult stretch for the young player, dealing with two separate issues. No timetable has been given for the hamstring, and the club is clearly not rushing him back. However, the young defender will be able to use the break to heal up.

Forced off Wednesday

Orozco suffered an apparent muscular injury that forced him to leave the field in Wednesday's clash against Los Angeles FC.

Analysis: Orozco was replaced by Rafael Santos after starting in an unusual wing-back spot in this game. The young defender is now at serious risk of missing the next few games, especially given the quick turnaround during this congested week. He had previously been active in a central position, making eight MLS starts this campaign, but he spent some time in concussion protocol in April.
