Suffering form foot injury

Cabrera is out for the time being due to a foot injury, per the MLS Player Status Report.

Analysis: Cabrera is a new addition to Vancouver's report this matchday with a foot injury, emerging as the league resumes after the World Cup break. This will leave the team without a useful option from the bench, starting in only two of his nine appearances this season, while bagging two assists. He did start in the two games before the break, with Bruno Caicedo likely to enter the starting XI in his place, as Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly (hamstring) is still out.

Undergoes foot surgery

Cabrera underwent a surgery on his foot and is expected to miss four-to-six months, Vancouver announced.

Analysis: Cabrera's season is likely over, as a four-to-six month timeline would put him on track to return potentially in the playoffs at best. The midfielder played a depth role this season, with two assists in nine appearances (two starts) and 308 minutes total. If he does return it would only be for the final weeks of the season, if Vancouver can make a playoff run.

Assists off the bench

Cabrera assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and two chances created in Wednesday's 3-2 victory versus FC Dallas. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 94th minute.

Analysis: Cabrera provided his second assist of the season while he still waits for his first start of the season. This was the first time that he has created more than one chance in a game this season. This was also only the second time this season that he has taken a shot when coming on as a sub.
