Undergoes successful foot surgery
Goodwin (foot) underwent successful surgery Tuesday to address a plantar plate tear and is expected to be sidelined for four to five months, according to the club.
Analysis: Goodwin will miss the remainder of the 2026 MLS season after undergoing surgery to repair the plantar plate tear. The four-to-five-month recovery timeline could also limit his availability during the early stages of preseason ahead of the 2027 campaign. The forward finishes the season with three goals across 24 MLS appearances, including four starts.
Set for foot surgery
Goodwin (foot) is scheduled to undergo surgery Tuesday, with a recovery timeline to be determined based on the findings during the procedure, according to coach Dean Smith, per Carroll R. Walton.
Analysis: Goodwin is already ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 MLS season after rupturing a tendon in his foot against Chicago. Tuesday's procedure should provide further clarity on the length of his recovery and whether his absence could extend into the start of next season. The forward ends the campaign with three goals from 11 shots across 24 MLS appearances, including four starts.
