Joins CF Montreal

Pereira was acquired by CF Montreal from Austin FC, the club announced.

Analysis: Pereira spent all six seasons of his professional career with Austin, making 148 appearances including 123 starts and accumulating over 10,000 minutes of MLS action, contributing four goals and 23 assists in the regular season. The 25-year-old Venezuelan international also scored once in five MLS Cup playoff appearances and contributed one goal and one assist in four Leagues Cup matches. Selected first overall by Austin in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft out of Virginia Tech, where he won the ACC Midfielder of the Year award in 2020, Pereira became the first Virginia Tech player to be taken with the top pick in the draft. He made his Venezuela national team debut in June 2023 and has since earned 10 caps for La Vinotinto.

Gets assist off the bench

Pereira assisted once to go with one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-0 victory against St. Louis City SC.

Analysis: Pereira was lucky to get an assist in this game as he only had one cross and created just one chance, but his performance might be enough to get him minutes off the bench against Minnesota United if Austin needs a spark. Minnesota has only conceded 16 times in 11 games, so it is possible Pereira could be used if Austin is struggling.

Bench option

Pereira (hamstring) is on the bench for Sunday's match against St. Louis.

Analysis: Pereira is back after three games out, as the midfielder resides on the bench. He started in the first three matches of the season, but after six missed games in their past seven, the club may be cautious and keep him on the bench for a few games.
