Barco returned to Chelsea on Tuesday for pre-season work ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Analysis: Barco is one of seven Chelsea players who reported for preseason duty Tuesday, alongside Reece James, Enzo Fernandez, Morgan Rogers, Malo Gusto, Maxence Lacroix and Jordan Henderson (wrist). Barco is one of several new summer signings, and he should compete for minutes either at left-back or central midfield after a strong season with Strasbourg in 2025/26.
Joins Chelsea
Barco has completed a transfer to Chelsea from Strasbourg, according to his former club.
Analysis: Barco is out from France as he makes his return to the Premier League after some time with Brighton a few seasons before, now joining Strasbourg's sister club, Chelsea. He played the past two seasons with the French club, notching two goals and six assists as he served on the left flank between defense and the midfield, notching 41 Ligue 1 appearances ( 38 starts). He will now join as an immediate step in for Marc Cucurella after his exit from the club this summer, giving the club another option at left-back or in the defensive midfield. Jorrel Hato looks to be their starter at left-back at the moment, although that should change after the addition of Barco, just adding to the young and deep defense the Blues have.
