Álvaro Rodríguez
Signs long term with Bournemouth
Rodriguez signed a long term deal with Bournemouth after departing Elche, the club announced.
Analysis: Rodriguez scored seven goals and added five assists across 34 appearances for Elche last season, including strikes against both Real Madrid and Barcelona. The forward came through Girona's academy before joining Real Madrid's La Fabrica in 2020, making his senior debut under coach Carlo Ancelotti in January 2023 and scoring a dramatic derby equalizer against Atletico Madrid off a Luka Modric corner. He also spent time on loan at Getafe before his move to Elche last summer. Head of football operations Tiago Pinto praised his pedigree and potential, and Rodriguez is expected to add depth to Bournemouth's attack as the club prepares for a European campaign.
Scores opener
Rodriguez scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Girona.
Analysis: Rodriguez gave Elche the lead in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Girona on the final day of the La Liga season, firing a composed first-time finish past Paulo Gazzaniga in the first half after a headed pass from Pedro Bigas, a goal that ultimately proved enough to secure his side's top-flight survival despite Arnau Martinez's second-half equalizer. Rodriguez ends the 2025-26 La Liga season with seven goals, five assists and 33 key passes, delivering his most important goal at the most crucial moment of the campaign to help keep his side in the division.
Scores vs. Alaves
Rodriguez scored one goal to go with seven shots (four on goal) and four chances created in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Deportivo Alaves.
Analysis: Rodriguez was a huge problem for the Alaves defense all game long, and he was credited with a goal while seeing four of his seven shots on target. This was Rodriguez's first goal since Jan. 31, but with nine shots across his last three starts, he's making a case to remain in the XI when Elche take on Betis on Tuesday.
Assists on Sunday
Rodriguez assisted once to go with zero corners and one chance created in Sunday's 2-1 victory versus Oviedo.
Analysis: Rodriguez assisted Gonzalo Villar in the 16th minute for the second goal. Rodriguez completed 18 passes and contributed defensively with one tackle and one interception. This was his first goal contribution in nearly three months, bringing his total goal contributions for the campaign to double digits.
