Earns first-team call-up
Mane (thigh) has been named in Borussia Dortmund's squad for Wednesday's Champions League clash against Bodo/Glimt after recently returning from a muscular injury, the club posted.
Analysis: Mane made his comeback Saturday, starting and playing 45 minutes for Dortmund's U23 side in a 3-2 victory over SG Wattenscheid 09 after recovering from a thigh injury sustained against Hoffenheim in early September. The 21-year-old defender has endured several injury setbacks, but his inclusion in Wednesday's first-team squad represents another encouraging step toward regaining full fitness. However, given his limited competitive minutes since returning, Mane is more likely to provide defensive depth off the bench than immediately challenge for a starting role.
Makes comeback with U23 side
Mane (thigh) returned to competitive action Saturday, starting and playing the first half of Borussia Dortmund U23's 3-2 win over SG Wattenscheid 09 after recovering from a muscular injury, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
Analysis: Mane made his first appearance since sustaining a thigh muscle injury against Hoffenheim in early September, completing 45 minutes with Dortmund's reserve team. The 21-year-old defender has endured several injury setbacks throughout his young career, making his return to competitive action an encouraging step toward regaining match fitness. His minutes were limited in his comeback appearance, and he could continue building fitness with the U23 side before returning to first-team contention.
