Uncertain status vs. Real Sociedad
Amatucci (groin) is uncertain to be available for Sunday's game at Real Sociedad, according to Luis de la Cruz of Diario AS.
Analysis: Amatucci has been a key player for Deportivo in the early stages of the 2026/27 season, and his absence could be greatly felt since the Riazor outfit is already without another key midfielder in Marc Casado (collarbone). Amatucci missed the last league match before the break due to a groin problem and flu-like symptoms, but he's yet to train with the rest of the group since then and hasn't even stepped on the pitch in the last two weeks. Not having Amatucci would be a huge blow for Deportivo, with Noe Carrillo and possibly Adria Altimira as options to take his place in the middle of the park.
Misses due to adductor issue
Amatucci missed Sunday's 1-1 draw against Real Betis due to workload management, according to coach Antonio Hidalgo. "Amat had what we talked about a bit regarding load management, a discomfort in the adductor that wasn't going to allow him to take part in the match, it doesn't seem serious, but with so little recovery time it was an unnecessary risk, with so much still ahead."
Analysis: Amatucci had been an ever presence in the midfield for Depor this season, contributing one assist, three chances created, 18 tackles and 17 clearances in six La Liga appearances. This precautionary absence does not appear to be serious, and his return should come once he has had sufficient time to recover during the international break.
Dominates in defensive duties
Amatucci had four tackles (three won), seven clearances and two interceptions in Sunday's 3-1 win against Valencia.
Analysis: Amatucci anchored the midfield with a defensively dominant performance, breaking up play and covering ground relentlessly. He touched every defensive category, totaling 15 defensive contributions with seven clearances, two blocks, two interceptions and four tackles (three won). The midfielder has now compiled eight tackles, 10 clearances and four blocks over his opening three games, with at least one contribution in every category each match.
First La Liga assist
Amatucci had an assist with his lone chance created during Monday's 1-1 draw with Elche.
Analysis: Amatucci set up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 21st minute assisting the opening goal of the match while tying for the team-high in chances created. It was a debut assist in La Liga for Amatucci after signing with Deportivo in July.
Signs with Deportivo
Amatucci has joined RC Deportivo through June 2028, according to the club.
Analysis: Amatucci arrives at Deportivo after a strong season with Las Palmas, where he established himself as one of coach Luis Garcia's most used players, making 42 official appearances and contributing four assists. A product of Fiorentina's academy, the midfielder previously played in Serie B with Salernitana in 2024/25 and Ternana in 2025/26, totaling 52 appearances and three goals across those two seasons. He has also earned 24 caps across Italy's U18, U19 and U20 national teams. Amatucci projects as an organizing presence in the middle of the park for Deportivo, bringing distribution ability and defensive intensity as the club prepares for next season in LaLiga.
