Murphy has joined San Diego FC from Colorado Rapids, his new club announced.

Analysis: Murphy departs Colorado for San Diego FC having been unable to hold down a regular role with the Rapids this season, logging just six minutes of league football across four outings after making 22 appearances in all competitions since joining from FC Cincinnati at the start of 2025. The 26-year-old center back arrives at SDFC with considerable pedigree, having made 105 appearances across all competitions for Cincinnati between 2022 and 2024 before his spell in Colorado. Sporting director Tyler Heaps said the club is looking forward to integrating Murphy into the group as they prepare for a demanding second half of the season.
