Heads to Bremen on loan
Arthur has joined Werder Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen for the 2026-27 season, the club announced.
Analysis: Arthur moves to Bremen for playing time after being frozen out at Leverkusen, where he sat on the bench for all 90 minutes at Elversberg and watched Lucas Vazquez handle right back in the season opener. The arrival of reported signing Guela Doue, plus Jarrel Quansah's ability to fill in there, left him without a route to minutes. He brings 64 competitive appearances for Leverkusen including 13 in the Champions League, and Werder's shortage at right back means he should start regularly once he settles.
Precautionary withdrawal before match
Arthur was ruled out at the last minute before Bayer Leverkusen's friendly against Newcastle as a precaution, according to KSTA.
Analysis: Arthur had initially been set to start for Leverkusen at St. James' Park but withdrew after feeling discomfort during warmups, with Lucas Vazquez replacing him in the lineup. The withdrawal was described as a precautionary measure to avoid any risk ahead of the start of the season, and Arthur is expected to be back in coach Carles Martinez's squad for the DFB Pokal first round match against SV Wehen Wiesbaden next Saturday.
