Provides assist for USMNT
Freeman featured in all four United States matches during the international break, starting three and totaling 285 minutes while recording an assist against Canada.
Analysis: Freeman finished a busy international window by completing back-to-back matches against Mexico and Canada, setting up the winner in the latter. The right-back returns to Villarreal with a significant workload and limited recovery time ahead of Saturday's clash against Real Madrid. Freeman had started the final two La Liga matches before the break, but his international minutes and the availability of Santiago Mourino create some rotation risk for the weekend.
Emerging as starting right-back
Freeman has started each of the last two matches at right-back after beginning the season in a reserve role.
Analysis: Freeman appears to have moved ahead of Santiago Mourino in the right-back hierarchy after earning consecutive starts. The defender has created three chances while recording 13 tackles, one interception and 11 clearances across six La Liga appearances. His recent run in the starting XI suggests he could continue to receive regular opportunities after beginning the campaign primarily as a substitute.
