Back from international duty
Cimermancic (international duty) is in contention to play for Toronto in upcoming league clashes.
Analysis: Cimermancic saw little action for the Slovenian U21 squad before returning to his club, where he's expected to start as a central attacking midfielder. He should once again serve as a primarily attacking asset, looking to improve on his season averages of 0.7 shots (0.3 on target) and 0.5 chances created per contest. In terms of goal contributions, he has yet to add to his lone goal from Aug. 19. His inclusion would push Lewis Morgan back to the bench.
Called up by Slovenia U21
Cimermancic has been called up by the Slovenian U21 national team for the international window between September and October.
Analysis: Cimermancic hasn't represented Canada yet, so he's eligible to play for the Slovenian U21 squad, and a good showing with the youth squad could potentially lead to a senior call-up in the future. He'll play against Israel and the Netherlands on Sept. 29 and Oct. 2, respectively, but he should be able to return to Toronto in time to play against Montreal on Oct. 10, when the 2026 MLS season resumes after the break.
Nets on two shots
Cimermancic scored one goal to go with two shots (two on goal) and one chance created in Wednesday's 3-3 draw against Charlotte FC.
Analysis: Cimermancic took a pair of shots from the midfield and scored one of them during a three-all goalfest against Charlotte. The midfielder also created a chance, but it wasn't finished. This match was all offense and a trip to Miami could be another high-scoring affair for Cimermancic and co.
Starting versus New England
Cimermancic (thigh) is in the starting XI for Saturday's match against New England Revolution.
Analysis: Cimermancic will make his third start of the year following his absence due to muscular problems. He'll be immediately required to cover the spot of Jonathan Osorio (knee) in central midfield, a position in which he could contribute through passes and defensive output. It remains unclear if Cimermancic is ready for significant minutes, so his value may be limited if he's subbed off at some point.
Picks up adductor injury
Cimermancic is out for the time being with an adductor injury, per the MLS Player Status Report.
Analysis: Cimermancic is a new addition to Toronto's already extensive injury report this matchday, and at this point, the club's injury situation has become genuinely historic in its scope and duration. He's a defender whose absence adds to an already stretched midfield. No timetable has been given, and with minimal options left in the first team midfield, the club will have to do some shifting around to form a new starting XI.
