Starting against Whitecaps
Ordaz (international duty) is in the starting lineup to face Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday.
Analysis: Ordaz avoided an absence in club action as he didn't join El Salvador's national team before the weekend's match. Moreover, he'll see an extended outing in the absence of Tai Baribo (international duty) and Louis Munteanu (international duty) and could benefit from shooting volume, though he'll need to be efficient in a difficult fixture. The 22-year-old has two goals in the current campaign, but failed to record a direct contribution over his last 283 minutes of league play.
Set to represent El Salvador
Ordaz will represent El Salvador during the upcoming international break in September and October.
Analysis: Ordaz will miss the trip to Vancouver on Saturday, Sept. 26, but he should be available when the MLS regular season resumes in the second weekend of October -- where D.C. United will visit Inter Miami. Ordaz in just three of his 11 appearances with DCU since being acquired from LAFC via trade, however, so his absence shouldn't have a big impact from a fantasy perspective.
Notches one shot
Ordaz recorded one shot (zero on goal) in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Atlanta United.
Analysis: Ordaz would start for D.C. on Saturday, only his third start in 10 appearances since joining the club. However, it was his second start in their past outings, starting to see more time. He has yet to see much production in his time on the field, just hitting the 500-minute mark.
Assists for draw
Ordaz assisted once to go with zero corners and two chances created in Wednesday's 1-1 draw versus Houston Dynamo.
Analysis: Ordaz provided the only assist during Wednesday's draw. The winger created a pair of chances before Tai Baribo finally finished one and gave him his assist. Ordaz will continue to be a threat in the back half of the season, especially if he can reliably link up with Baribo as a potentially lethal duo up top.
Traded to D.C. United
Ordaz was acquired by D.C. United from LAFC, the club announced.
Analysis: Ordaz made nine MLS appearances this season with LAFC, scoring two goals and adding an assist across 501 minutes, and also featured in five CONCACAF Champions Cup matches. The forward spent three and a half seasons with LAFC after signing as a Homegrown player in 2022, tallying 14 goals and eight assists across 98 appearances in all competitions, with his best campaign coming in 2025 when he produced five goals and five assists in 26 MLS games. A U22 Initiative signing, Ordaz has also earned 14 caps for El Salvador, scoring twice. Ordaz is expected to add depth and flexibility to D.C. United's attack as he can operate as both a striker and a winger.
Nets goal in defeat
Ordaz scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Sunday's 4-1 loss against Houston Dynamo.
Analysis: Ordaz brought LAFC back into it at 2-1 in the 45th minute, attacking Jacob Shaffelburg's cross from the left before his left-footed strike took a deflection off a Houston defender and snuck into the net for his second MLS goal of the season. The finish gave LAFC a quick spark of momentum heading into halftime, even though Houston eventually pulled away to make things comfortable on the road. Ordaz has now started three straight MLS matches and is clearly carving out a bigger role than he held last season for the Black and Gold.
