Back after NT duty
Gherasimencov (international duty) worked in the gym Thursday as part of a recovery session but will be available for Saturday's game against LAFC, Har Johal of The Daily Hive reports.
Analysis: Gherasimencov is back after representing Moldova in the break, where he started all four games and went the full 90 minutes three times. The defender isn't expected to play a big role for the Whitecaps as long as the majority of the defenders are healthy, though.
Joining Moldova NT
Gherasimencov has been called up to the Moldova national team for the upcoming international break between September and October.
Analysis: This marks Gherasimencov's fifth call-up to Moldova's senior team, and the 21-year-old defender has won seven caps for his country. Moldova are playing for fixtures in the UEFA Nations League C, meaning Gherasimencov should miss the matches against D.C. United (Sept. 26) and Chicago Fire (Oct. 6) before being ready to play against LAFC on Oct. 10.
Cleared illness, sets up goal
Gherasimencov has cleared his illness and came on at halftime, setting up a goal for Emmanuel Sabbi against Tigres, the club announced.
Analysis: Gherasimencov had been expected to potentially return in a substitute role, and this appearance confirms he's back available after previously replacing Ranko Veselinovic during a league match. Prior to this absence, the 21-year-old had tallied 11 tackles, eight crosses and five clearances over seven MLS appearances, including two starts, operating mostly as a left back. Gherasimencov is expected to continue competing for playing time as the club moves forward.
Dealing with illness
Gherasimencov is out for the upcoming match against LAFC due to illness, per the MLS Player Status Report.
Analysis: Gherasimencov may be able to return in the Leagues Cup but will likely be limited to a substitute role, even though he replaced Ranko Veselinovic (knee) during the previous league game. Prior to this absence, the 21-year-old had tallied 11 tackles, eight crosses and five clearances over seven MLS appearances (two starts), operating mostly as a left-back.
