Héctor Fort
Returns to Barcelona from loan
Fort has returned to Barcelona after his season-long loan at Elche expired on June 30.
Analysis: Fort spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Elche after falling behind Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia in Barcelona's right-back pecking order, and he departed the club with a heartfelt farewell message thanking them for helping him become a better player. He's now back for pre-season, where there's some expectation that coach Hansi Flick could give him a look given the club's crowded right-back options, though Kounde, Eric Garcia, and now Xavi Espart all stand in his way of regular minutes. Given that logjam, a fresh loan move elsewhere for the 2026-27 season remains the more likely outcome
Scores goal vs. Betis
Fort scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and two crosses (zero accurate) in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Betis.
Analysis: Fort found the back of the net late in the first half with a shot that was deflected off an opposing defender, and that was Elche's first shot on target in the game. Fort can play all over the right flank, but as a wing-back on a team that's fighting to not get relegated, he's expected to have most of his value as a defensive asset.
Set to return Wednesday
Fort (shoulder) is in line to return for Wednesday's clash against Atletico, according to coach Eder Sarabia. "In principle, Hector returns."
Analysis: Fort has been sidelined since late December following shoulder surgery, making his potential return a significant moment for both player and club heading into the final stretch of the season. The wing-back had been carving out a strong role before going down and should push to regain his starting spot on the right flank once back up to full speed, with Tete Morente having held that role during his lengthy absence. The club will make a final call ahead of kickoff to ensure he is fully ready to feature some minutes against the Colchoneros.
